Ramble #19: 2015 Goodreads Challenge “Oh no”

So last year I completed my Goodreads Challenge by 143% and in January 2015 I decided I should up the book number a bit… What a mistake! With college and travelling  and volunteering and everything else going on I’m constantly 7 books behind schedule! (On the bright side: at least I maintained my reading rythm…)

I thought I would be able to catch up before the end of the year but now I think I won’t be able to finish it 😦

I know it’s not a big deal, I just wanted to vent a little because I try to set myself realistic goals so I can achieve them and be proud all the same but I guess this year I went a bit too far… Oh well, there’s always 2016!

And how are you’re Goodread Challenges going for this year? Tell me all about it in the comment section below 😉

I have a lot of trouble sleeping so I tend to read from around 10pm-2am every night and read books during the day sometimes depending on my mood. I don’t really do much at home during the day because my kids still really young and content with playing on his own so I basically read like its a part time job haha!

I do read novellas, but a lot of these books were actually 200+ pages, even a lot of ones over 350-400+ and if they were novellas they ended up being a series of novellas that I put on Goodreads as the collection and only counted as one book.

I also have a Goodreads friend who had a goal of 300 and doesn’t work like me and she actually hit the goal a week or two after I did. But basically we have no lives. Although I don’t really read on weekends to be honest, that’s family time and shopping time lol just like after work hours are 🙂

But really, I only read so much because I only sleep about 6-7 hours lol

My goal is 80, I’m at 67. Three behind schedule. However, I did not know that I would publish my own book this year and that took some considerable reading time away–but much worth it! My book is Cookie Encounter and now I’m in the marketing phase.

This time of year, to get done, I read short Christmas stories by Anne Perry and Debbie Macomber. The books get me in the Christmas spirit and hopefully I’ll meet my challenge! Last year I read 77, but wasn’t on GR yet.

I set it for 40 and have read 46 so far \õ/. Reading novellas is always a good strategy to up the number quicker. My books were mostly 500+ pages, though. I’m still 3 books behind on my Autumn TBR-pile and 2 of them are 700+ pages. OMG, THE PRESSURE!! ^^

I mainly set a target of 20. Not that I’m lousy reader. I want to live up with a book when I read it. I have completed 32 so far including many of the classics. I have to manage everything but get time to complete at least one good book in two days.

I was ahead, but now on schedule. A couple of big books came my way and now I’m worried i won’t keep up. But anyway, enjoying the reading’s the most important part, right? 🙂

I’m unfortunately behind by 11 books 😦 I had the same problem where I did better than expected last year and ended up overestimating how much I could get done this year. And I find that I totally tend to be way too hard on myself when I get behind on my challenge. I always need to remind myself it’s most important to enjoy the books and to make reading a regular part of my day/week 🙂
